Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg tie in Turin sees both Juventus and Ajax looking to welcome back influential stars with the tie perfectly poised at 1-1 after the first leg in Amsterdam.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to the Juventus side for tonight’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg tie with Ajax after being given a match off by coach Massimiliano Allegri.

Juve lost 2-1 at SPAL in Serie A at the weekend in a match that saw Allegri rest a number of his big-name stars ahead of tonight’s pivotal clash at the Allianz Stadium.R

Ronaldo scored a crucial away goal at Ajax in a 1-1 draw in the first leg and, ahead of the game, Allegri heaped praise on the Portuguese star.

“Cristiano has extraordinary quality,” he said.

“In certain moments he becomes an unstoppable player and you can see it on his face.”

Ajax are hopeful they can welcome influential midfielder Frenkie de Jong will be fit to return to the side for tonight’s clash.

And while head coach Erik Ten Hag admitted that Juventus have the advantage heading into tonight’s game, he remains confident in his team’s ability to overturn the odds and spring another shock.

“I’m confident because of the way we are playing and training. We are stronger and we are showing it game by game,” he said.

“Juventus are the favourites, especially after the Amsterdam result.

“If we play well, we can overcome any limit.”
