In this report, China’s social media strategy, which produces alternatives to global social media networks, is evaluated together with its advantages and disadvantages.

Social media networks, one of the most popular communication tools of the 21st century, have different roles as well as providing communication between people due to their structural features. These multi-faceted platforms constitute an important communication platform, from intelligence activities of states to directing voter behavior, from determining the social preferences of different age groups to the organization of associations, foundations and pressure groups engaged in civil society activities. In addition, social networks, which have become an indispensable part of people’s daily life, are platforms where people can meet their various consumption needs, from instant news to shopping.

One of the most popular and fastest communication tools of our time; Almost all social media networks that have a role to influence the perception of truth of individuals, societies, governments and states are based in the USA and China. Although some states, especially Russia, India and Japan, have steps in the development of new social media networks, today the USA and China have established a serious hegemony on social media platforms.

In this report, China’s social media strategy, which produces alternatives to global social media networks, is evaluated together with its advantages and disadvantages. In addition, China’s own supply of social media platforms are compared with Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and YouTube, which are considered to be the world’s most popular social networks based in the USA. The report also reveals the economic capacity of social media platforms. The report is mainly of Western popular social media platforms in Turkey’s social media network map also tried to be removed. The report, which offers an important perspective for the change of the current position and the creation of global brands, also offers suggestions about the steps that states should take at the point of social media networks.
